Welcome Back Center Opens its Doors in Imperial Valley

The San Diego Welcome Back Center (WBC) is proud to announce the expansion of a new center in the Imperial Valley, with new funding from The California Wellness Foundation. The new WBC is located at 2695 S. 4th Street, El Centro, CA. 92243. Their phone number is (760) 337-5019.

The new WBC opened its doors on February 13, 2006 and is ready to provide educational case management, career counseling and support services to internationally trained healthcare workers living in the region, says Rolando Castillo, the director of the WBC. In addition a “Prep to Prep” review course began on February 22, 2006 to assist internationally trained nurses’ gain the understanding needed to successfully pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX). A Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) course is also scheduled to begin on March 6, 2006 to assist those individuals whose English proficiency may need further development.

The Welcome Back Center is excited to have the opportunity to provide the Imperial Valley medical and education community with a linguistically, culturally competent, well trained and diversely experienced workforce that can assist in satisfying some of the healthcare worker disparities encountered in our regional community.
