Siskiyou Family Healthcare Builds a Vision for the Future As part of California State Rural Health Association’s rural economic transformation project, healthcare consultants from John Snow, Inc. (JSI) and CSRHA staff traveled to Yreka in January to provide Siskiyou Family Healthcare with strategic planning assistance. Siskiyou Family Healthcare is the first participating rural healthcare organization to receive on-site training aimed at building staff and Board level capacity for capital campaign implementation. Consultants, Reesa Webb and Michael Rodriguez of JSI conducted a full day of training where they first lead Siskiyou staff to identify a strategic vision for the clinic. By assessing the strength and weaknesses of Siskiyou Family Healthcare, as well as opportunities for growth, staff were able to develop strategies for achieving concrete goals. Webb and Rodriguez then brought Siskiyou’s Board of Directors together for Board development training, and to review staff goals for the future. Webb and Rodriguez will reconvene with Board members in February to create a solid strategic plan for Siskiyou Family Healthcare. Ideally, through this training and technical assistance program, Siskiyou Family Healthcare will build a strong organizational foundation for future capital fundraising.
